In her career spanning over thirty years, Botelho has earned recognition for her aesthetic sensitivity, technical precision, and interpretive versatility. She has collaborated with orchestras and chamber ensembles across Brazil, the U.S., Russia, and Germany. Through her deep engagement with audiences, she is able to bridge the gap between diverse listeners and the stage. This allows her to present music with a unique sense of accessibility and passion. A central focus of her artistic work is "Women in Music". She also is deeply invested and influenced by the works of Shostakovich.
Based in Berlin, Andréa Huguenin Botelho has served since 2023 as the curator of the concert series "Komponistin!" at Schloss Britz. Furthermore, she is a member of the board of the Archive of Women in Music (Archiv Frau und Musik) in Frankfurt am Main. In November 2025, she founded the Brasil Orchester Berlin. Under her leadership, the ensemble rapidly established itself as a hub for Brazilian music in Germany, bringing light to a rich and cross-border musical heritage that remains largely undiscovered.
As a composer and arranger, Botelho has produced numerous original works for various instrumentations—ranging from solo pieces to full symphonies to specialized transcriptions. Her works are published by prestigious houses such as Hofmeister Musikverlag and Edition Peters. Her most recent releases include the albums Women and the Double Bass and Cantata Ayabás, a large-scale cantata for soloists, choir, and orchestra rooted in Brazilian traditions.

Currently, Andréa Huguenin Botelho collaborates with leading double bassists, including Thierry Barbé (Principal Double Bass of the Opéra National de Paris), Prof. Stephan Petzold (Principal Double Bass of the Konzerthaus Berlin), and Pedro Gadelha (Principal Double Bass of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra – OSESP).
Expanding her reach to the Rhineland-Palatinate region, she assumed the position of Music Director of the Westpfälzisches Sinfonieorchester in January 2026. In the orchestra's 130-year history, she is the first woman to hold this prestigious role.
